Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how we calculate your gaming storage needs.

Q: How accurate are these storage estimates?

Very accurate. Our calculator uses real-world data pulled directly from Steam specifying the actual disk space requirements for each game. We don't use generic estimates; we use the official requirements provided by developers.

Q: Why is there a 20% "Calculation Buffer" added?

SSDs perform best when they aren't completely full. Keeping at least 10-20% of your drive empty allows for better wear leveling, faster write speeds, and room for essential operating system updates and temporary files. We add this buffer to ensure your PC remains fast and responsive.

Q: Is my data being tracked?
Privacy First

No. Storage4Gaming is a privacy-first project. We do not use marketing cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics like Google Analytics. Your calculations are processed instantly, and we don't store your personal browsing history.

Q: How often is the game database updated?

Our database is automatically synchronized with the latest Steam releases twice a week (Sundays and Thursdays). This ensures that new blockbuster titles are available for your calculations almost immediately after launch.

Q: Why do some RAM recommendations default to 16GB?

While some games might technically run on 8GB, modern operating systems like Windows 10/11 consume a significant portion of that baseline. We recommend 16GB as the modern standard for a smooth, stutter-free gaming experience.
